• Pioneer Orbital Surgeon in Iraq and established the first Orbital Surgery
Center in the region, rated by the World Health Organization as center of
excellence in the region
• Original research with good results in spinal cord grafting on mice and then

عبد الهادي الخليلي
ولد في مدينة الكوفة عام 1943.حصل على زمالة كلية الجراحين الملكية لبريطانيا عام 1984، وتخرج من كلية طب جامعة بغداد عام 1966.كما حصل على ماجستير فلسفة علوم عام 1973، وزمالة كلية الجراحين الأمريكية في اختصاص العيون، حيث عمل فيها داخل العراق والمملكة المتحدة.بدأ حياته في مجال الطب، ثم انتقل إلى الجراحة العصبية وتدرب عليها في المملكة المتحدة، وعمل كذلك في سويسرا، ألمانيا، بلجيكا وكندا.
الوظائف والمؤهلات:
في جامعة بغداد، عُين بعد عودته بعد الاختصاص عام 1976.
نصب رئيس شعبة الجراحة العصبية في الجامعة، وشغل منصب أستاذ في مدينة الطب (المستشفى التعليمي للجامعة) عام 1988.
أسس اختصاص جراحة محجر العين في العراق، من خلال استحداث مركز جراحة محجر العين في مدينة الطب، والذي قيمته منظمة الصحة العالمية بأنه مركز متميز في منطقة شرق البحر المتوسط.
عن ذلك، قال المرحوم خالد القصاب بأنه “أفضل طالب تخرج على يديه”، وقال عنه أستاذه في الجراحة العصبية مايلز كيبسون بأنه “أفضل طبيب مقيم اشتغل في المستشفى خلال الخمسة عشر سنة الماضية”، وقال عنه الأستاذ المرحوم العالمة حسين علي محفوظ:”التقت في الخليلي صفات وحالات، تجمع في واحد، بيت عريق، ومثبت، ومعرق، وعلم جم، وتواضع رفيع، وأدب فائق، وخلق عظيم، إلى ذكاء متوقد، وفطنة براقة.”
الأبحاث والمنشورات:
بحث في 105 موضوع، وقدم 64 منشورة خلال وجوده في العراق، منها 9 مؤتمرات محلية وعربية وعالمية.
نظم العديد من المؤتمرات، منها مؤتمر الكياس المائية عام 1987، وهو الأول في العراق، وكان يحضره حضور أجنبي وعراقي.
في عام 2001، نظم مؤتمر السرطان، وفي عام 2008 استنبط عملية جراحية في محجر العين (قدمت في العالم)، واستنبط “الآلة البغدادية لاستخراج الأكياس المائية”.
استنبط مع زميله محمود حياوي طريقة لزرع النخاع الشوكي، وطورها، وله استنباطات أخرى لم تنشر بعد.
الأنشطة العلمية والخدمات:
انضم إلى جمعية مكافحة السرطان العراقية، وأصبح نائب رئيس مجلس السرطان في العراق، وعضو هيئة سكرتير الجمعية.
عمل في وزارة التعليم العالي، وعضو لجنة اختيار العلماء.
انتخب عضوا مؤازرا في المجمع العلمي العراقي.
ترجم كتاب “الموجز المصور للعلوم”، وكتاب “التعامل لفحص الجهاز العصبي”، واعتمد كتابا مساعدا لطلبة كلية الطب، وهو “معجم المصطلحات الطبية العصبية”.
ألف عدة كتب، منها:
“الكوارث” (منظمة الصحة العالمية)
“التمريض العصبي” (غير منشور)
“الجراحة العصبية” (غير منشور)
الرسائل العلمية والتدريب:
أشرف على أطاريح ماجستير ودكتوراه في المجال الطبي، وفي مجالات الهندسة، الكهربائية، الحاسبات، الإحصاء، المحاسبة، المكتبات، والطب البيطري.
استحدث مجموعة البحوث الطوعية لطلبة كلية الطب، ووجههم نحو الطريق الأمثل.
الجوائز والتكريمات:
منحه اتحاد الأطباء العرب لقب “أفضل طبيب” عام 1994، ولقب “الأستاذ المتميز” عام 1997، ووسام العلم عام 1999.
حصل على دروع وجوائز من جامعة بغداد، وكلية الطب، ووزارة الصحة، ونقابة الأطباء، وغيرها.
أقامت جمعية الأطباء العراقيين، وجمعية الحاسبات العراقية، حفلات تكريم له تقديراً لخدماته.
العمل في الخارج والأنشطة الثقافية:
عمل في العراق حتى أغسطس 2004، ثم سكن كندا لبعض الوقت، وترك العراق بعد أن تعرض للاختطاف من قبل مجرمين، ورفض الهجرة قسرًا.
عمل في جامعة ماكماستر بكندا، وعمل في واشنطن من 2006 بمنصب ملحق ثقافي في الولايات المتحدة.
قدم خدمات جليلة للتعليم العالي وخارجها، واهتم بتوحيد الجالية العلمية والمهنية العراقية، وأقام مؤتمرات وأنشطة علمية وثقافية، منها مؤتمر “سوية من أجل العراق” في الولايات المتحدة عام 2008، ومؤتمر الأكاديميين العراقيين عام 2009.
رعى مؤسسة علمية في العالم، وأقام العديد من المؤتمرات والندوات، منها مؤتمر قمة الصحة للعراق، ومؤتمر اتحاد الأطباء العرب، وغيرها.
الزيارات والأنشطة الدولية:
قام بزيارات إلى العديد من الجامعات الأمريكية، منها هارفرد، جونز هوبكنز، سان دييغو، وغيرها، بمشاركة فعالة في أكثر من 15 مشاركة.
نظم مهرجانات ثقافية، واحتفالات للجالية، وأقام علاقات مع مؤسسات علمية وأكاديمية رفيعة.
أسس مكتبة طبية وطنية، وافتتح قاعة عمليات جراحية متنقلة، وقدم مشاريع تدريب للأطباء العراقيين في الخارج، بقيمة ملايين الدولارات.
مشاريعه المستقبلية وأهدافه:
يركز على استحداث لجان مناظرة في العراق، لرفع مستوى الكليات والأفراد، وتحسين التعليم العالي والمجتمع بشكل عام.
بلغ عدد اللجان حتى الآن سبع وعشرون لجنة في مجالات الطب، الهندسة، التراث، الإنسانية، وغيرها.
أسس منظمة غير ربحية باسم “توفيق” عام 2013، لخدمة التعليم العالي والصحة في العراق.
شعاره وقيمه:”ماذا تسأل وطنك؟ ماذا قدم لك؟”وهو مستوحى من قول جبران خليل جبران: “لا تتساءل ماذا قدم لك الوطن، بل ماذا قدمت للوطن”.
